The Paladin, a Mk. II Defender prototype, was drifting into a degrading orbit around Ord Mantell causing the few ships heading both towards and away from the planet to make small course corrections to avoid it.
“Thanks for letting us stop long enough to overhaul the ship.” Yuli sat at the engineering station looking at the display showing that emergency power was on but failing, the only lights on in the section were the emergency lights.
“You know the pressure we’re under right now; the council was looking for someone to do recon on the front lines of the war.” Aurelia half snapped back as she was working on replacing a couple components that had melted. “How’s the emergency power doing?”
“Still dropping, but not as fast as it was before.” Yuli responded as she looked over at the other woman. “I looked at the missions they were giving out, they were all voluntary.”
“What’s your point? We’re Jedi, we’re supposed to serve.” Aurelia said as she shifted around in the maintenance bay to look at the next set of components in that section.
“Serving is one thing, burning out is another.” Yuli said as she cycled through the various subsystems on the ship looking at the systems that needed some attention. “I could’ve used a couple of days to meditate in complete peace. And I do mean complete peace, not peace until we’re being fired at kind of peace.”
“It would not have been peaceful for me, the Princess we rescued from Naboo has been bugging me mostly to try and save her mother.” Aurelia sighed as she put both pieces of a flow regulator on the floor of the ship before grabbing the replacement to install.
“Even though she’s been told that it’s probably a lost cause?” Yuli turned to face Aurelia just as the main lights came back on. “Hey main power is back.” She was happy as she turned back to the console and saw the indicators showing the engines were starting up again.
Adaavia walked through the door leading to the access crawlways. “Okay I got the main fuel lines patched up, we should be able to get back to Courscant to get this ship overhauled.” She walked over to Aurelia holding out her lower hands to help the other woman up out of the access bay she was in. “I think I bought us three days with the patch job I did.”
“But, our mission…” Aurelia started to protest before Adaavia cut her off.
“Will have to be given to someone else. The ship needs repairs, we need rest, and you need pointers on how to avoid that Princess. Now come on, I need help getting the navcomputer recalibrated.” Adaavia told Aurelia as she started to drag her off towards the cockpit and Yuli smiled before pulling up a parts list for the shields before heading off to another parts locker to see if they had what they needed to make repairs there.

took a crack at continuing the story a little and asked if I could make an image for it, so here's what I've come up with in my free time. I thought it was a nice read so I included it.
It is an interesting take on my characters Aurelia and Yuli too.
